Ambika Khadi House

Since October 2011 - Mr. Aniket Tandale

Ambika Khadi House is a small, family‑owned shop that’s been running since October 2011. They focus on khadi and other natural fabrics, all hand‑woven, which means human work, not big machines — making the cloth breathable, durable, and comfortable. Their collection includes cotton khadi, silk khadi, pure linen, and mixed types (like Matka‑MLA Khadi), plus ready options like formal shirts, suiting pieces, and party wear. Because they use natural fibres, their clothes are good for your skin and adapt to weather – cool in summer, warm in winter. Also, buying from them helps local weavers keep alive India’s textile traditions and supports small‑scale artisans. The fabrics may have some irregularities or natural texture (not exactly identical weave everywhere), but that is part of the charm of hand‑woven cloth.

I bought a pure linen kurta from Ambika Khadi House—so soft and light, perfect for summers. The colour was exactly what I saw, and the stitching is very good. Will shop here again!

Great experience! The silk khadi fabric I got for my wife made her look elegant at the party. Staff helped choose the right shade. Very happy with the quality.

Really liked the matka‑MLA khadi trouser fabric I bought. It’s durable and has a nice texture. Only thing: delivery took a bit longer than expected. Otherwise excellent.

Some Faq

True Khadi is hand‑spun yarn, hand‑woven cloth. The threads are made by hand (often on a charkha) and woven on looms without relying on heavy machines. Because of this, the texture is slightly uneven or rustic, which gives Khadi its charm. It’s more breathable and natural compared to mill‑made fabrics.

We offer various types such as cotton Khadi (daily wear, comfortable), pure linen (light & airy), Silk Khadi (for special occasions / party wear), Matka MLA Khadi (textured & traditional), and also mix & match styles. We have fabrics for formal shirts, suited pant pieces, party wear — so you can find something for everyday, work, or celebrations.

To keep Khadi fabric in good condition: wash gently in cold water (hand wash is best), use mild detergent, avoid harsh chemicals or bleach. Dry in shade (avoid strong sun), iron on low to medium heat, preferably when slightly damp. Store in dry places; avoid moisture. These care steps help preserve the texture, colour, and durability.

Some signs of genuine Khadi:
  • Slight irregularities in weave (not perfectly uniform)
  • Soft, breathable texture
  • Ends or threads may be more natural or slightly loose
  • Look for authenticity/certification labels (if available)
  • Ask about where the yarn is spun and the weave made — transparency helps.

YES — we provide both: fabric cuts (pant pieces, suit material) by metre, as well as made‑to‑order services for shirts, suits, and party wear. You can choose fabric, colour, style, and we help tailor it to fit you well.
